In loving memory of Gill King, a new bench has been installed at the Pavillion by her son Scott. Gill passed away on 31st Dec 2020, leaving her son Scott, daughter-in-law Jane and granddaughter Emily. Gill was born in 1947 to William and Doris King and attended Southlands school, becoming tennis captain. She then went onto Ashford college to learn her love of hairdressing. After living in Shadoxhurst she moved to New Romney to be near her parents and build her own mobile hairdressing business. After a brief time in St Mary's Bay she moved to Scotland before returning home to Kent and settled in Hamstreet, where she use to watch her son play football on a Sunday morning. She loved the community spirit and friendliness of Hamstreet village and made many good friends from her daily walks with her dog Poppy. The family are so very grateful to everyone who made her feel very welcome, enjoy her retirement and for all the help when her health took a turn for the worse. Next time you are in the woods or around the football pitch, think of her as she will be smiling down.... or shouting advice if a game is on. ... See more
